Infosys, one of the largest IT and outsourcing service company in the world today, was founded in 1981 in Pune by seven engineers – Narayan Murthy, Nandan Nilekani, S D Shibulal, K Dinesh, N S Raghavan, S Gopalakrishnan, and Ashok Arora. Timeline
- 1981: The company was incorporated
- 1992: The name was changed to Infosys Technologies Pvt. Ltd., and the head office moved to Bangalore following which, the company was converted to a Public Limited Company with the name Infosys Technologies Limited.
- 1995: New STP at the Electronic city was officially inaugurated, which still is the largest software development center in India.
- 1999: Infosys becomes the first Indian firm to get listed on Nasdaq.
- 2000: The company launched Finacle, a functionally rich banking solution that addresses retail and corporate banking requirements.
- 2002: Mr. Nandan Nilekani became the new CEO as Mr. Murthy assumes the role of Chairman and Chief mentor
- 2003: Ethics code to check Financial records was launched
- 2004: Completes five years on NASDAQ and becomes and becomes the first Indian listed IT firm to net Rs 1000 cr
- 2008: Infosys crosses revenues of USD 4.18 billion, and annual net profit crosses USD 1 billion
- 2010: Launched first BPO in Andhra Pradesh with enhanced offerings in sales support
- 2011: KV Kamath was appointed as new Chairman and Shibulal, CEO. The company also changed its name to Infosys Limited
